Bad At Art

I am bad at art and so are you.

Let’s be bad at art and good at being together.

I’ll go first: I’m Jeremy and after reading Brad Gooch’s biography of Keith Haring, I was inspired to find an icon and start iterating it. I’ve drawn and created hundreds of these little t-shirts over the past few months and am really loving the practice and borderline obsession with seeing what they can become. Here’s a sampling.

(The name [“Bad Art”] is taken from a skunk puppet I had in high school. Did a 'deodorant lesson' for some middle school kids. It aired on a local TV show.) Sketches used to entertain and distract lots of kids. Rebel duck represents any of four children who were trying something new at any particular time.

I have a long history of withholding my doodling on account of personal judgement. And, I would prefer drawing tools and sketch paper, but I've taken away any excuse from myself after acquiring an iPad for sheet music. I decided to draw whatever came to mind while focusing on a 3D glasses theme. It's called "3D 1". Maybe it'll be a series of sketches, I dunno.
